Our meal delivery for seniors in Los Angeles offers a wealth of benefits for older adults with specific nutritional needs and caregivers who need a break from the daily stress of meal planning. Through our meal delivery service, seniors can reclaim their independence, manage chronic conditions, reduce stress, and support a sustained quality of life.
Healthy eating can be difficult for anyone, but it can be especially difficult for senior citizens. Seniors can experience barriers to nutritious meals, such as living on a limited income, having chronic conditions, mobility or dexterity issues, dental issues, and even isolation and loneliness. Our home-delivered meals program breaks through many of these barriers by ensuring older adults receive regular, balanced meals with high-quality ingredients to meet their nutritional needs and goals.
With our nutrition program, older adults experience less food insecurity and malnutrition, reducing the risk of hospitalizations or readmissions. Other benefits of healthy home-delivered meals include greater management for chronic conditions, lower rates of loneliness through social connection with delivery drivers, and better overall health outcomes.
Through our home-delivered meals program, we provide clients with nutritious condition-specific meals to address a wide range of chronic conditions. If you’re living with diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol, you don’t have to struggle to manage your health with our menu options. Whether you need a low-sodium or low-carbohydrate diet, a diabetic-friendly, renal-friendly, or heart-healthy meal plan, our registered dietitians can build meals that meet your nutritional needs.
Whether you or a loved one is facing challenges that make shopping and cooking difficult, home delivery can take stress off your plate. Grocery shopping and cooking can be stressful for anyone – it can be especially distressing when you’re dealing with health issues or when you’re a caregiver trying to balance caregiving and all your other responsibilities. With our home delivery service, we help remove the burden of grocery shopping, planning meals, and cooking, reducing stress, anxiety, and decision fatigue. With our meal delivery services, you can spend less time worrying about feeling well enough to go grocery shopping, picking the right foods for your dietary needs, food waste, or budgeting for groceries.
We believe eating healthy isn’t just about the food itself, but about creating an environment where access to healthy food is accessible to all those in need. Therefore, we deliver the meals ourselves with a team of dedicated drivers to ensure every client throughout Los Angeles County has consistent meal deliveries every week. No one should ever have to worry about when, if, or how they’re going to get their next meal. Our home delivery ensures that consistently nutritious meals from the same driver every week are accessible to you, no matter the health challenges you face.
Once a week, you’ll receive 14 customized meals, either picked by you or our registered dietitians, to support your specific nutritional needs and preferences. Each week, you’ll receive meals from the same delivery driver on a specific day that works for you and the driver’s schedule.
Eligibility for meal delivery service is typically limited to specific health conditions and needs, and requires a referral from a healthcare provider or case manager. You may be eligible for home delivery if you have a chronic condition, a high-risk condition, are homebound, recently hospitalized, or have a high risk of readmissions. Many public health insurance programs, such as Medi-Cal and Medicare Advantage, provide coverage for home-delivered meals.
You may already be receiving some food support services from programs like Meals on Wheels. However, even if you’re receiving meals from Meals on Wheels, it doesn’t prevent you from using our nutrition program as well. Each program may use different eligibility and funding sources. Meals on Wheels is a nonprofit that doesn’t rely fully on insurance, meaning you can combine programs to meet your nutritional needs.
Frozen meals allow us to offer a flexible delivery schedule that fits into your life. We deliver meals once a week to residents across LA County on specific days for each area in our program. While we can’t accommodate all time-specific requests, we’ll work with you to set up a time that works best for your schedule.
We also offer a convenient liner option to keep your order safe in a silver bubble wrap bag with dry ice if you can’t be home to receive your meals. In addition to delivery flexibility, our frozen meals offer convenient, easy preparation and can be eaten on a schedule that meets your needs. All of your meals will come in dual heating tray containers that can be stored in your freezer and heated in the microwave or oven when you’re ready to eat.
Chronic conditions and aging can make it feel like your body is your enemy, but our home-delivered meals program gives you back autonomy over your body. With customizable menu options, we restore the dignity of choice, letting you be in control of your food and health. Moreover, the convenience of frozen high-quality meals makes it easy to regularly get nutritious foods in minutes. The ease of popping a meal in the microwave or oven reduces the burden and stress of navigating grocery shopping or standing over a stove when you have health limitations.
Access to home-delivered meals not only supports your loved one on their health journey but also offers a respite for caregivers. Caring for older adults is deeply rewarding, but it also comes with stressors that can take a toll on your physical and mental health. With home delivery, we can help reduce caregiver stress around meal planning, grocery shopping, and cooking. You can spend less time worrying about finding the time to go shopping, finding time to cook, picking food that meets specific nutritional needs, and budgeting for food.
