Recovery Boost

Recovery Boost

People experiencing medical issues recover more quickly with a balanced diet of essential vitamins and minerals. According to Nutrients, “An adequate and balanced diet is of utmost importance in recovery and rehabilitation.” Nutrition is a secondary support for individuals recovering from medical procedures or conditions. LifeSpring Home Nutrition ensures people in recovery have nourishing comfort foods to help them heal physically and emotionally. Recovery Boost is a service offered to individuals undergoing or recovering from medical treatments.

How Does Recovery Boost Work?

Recovery Boost is designed to help people heal from the effects of surgery, substance use disorder (SUD), and other medical issues. A registered dietician (RD) educates clients on their recovery and provides valuable information on how to monitor changes related to diet and nutrition. Food is a form of medicine for many people. Eating healthy meals daily reduces some medical symptoms, improves healing, and decreases stress.

Recovery Boost encourages people in recovery to do the following:

Many people healing after medical procedures have no one to support their recovery. LifeSpring Home Nutrition is an information resource, wellness check, and supplier of healthy nutritional meals.

The Importance of Proper Nutrition to Boost Recovery

Recovering from a physical or mental health issue takes a lot of energy. The body needs proper nutrients to heal after undergoing medical treatments. Dietary needs during recovery vary depending on multiple factors, including the following:

Every person has different needs, preferences, and recovery instructions. However, eating nutritional meals is one of the best ways to reduce the risk of avoidable health complications. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “Poor nutrition contributes to many costly diseases, including obesity, heart disease, and some cancers.” LifeSpring Home Nutrition ensures the meals delivered each week match each person’s preferences and needs, reducing the risk of preventable health issues.

Recovery Boost Encourages Healthy Lifestyle Choices

LifeSpring Home Nutrition offers Recovery Boost to help people monitor their health and well-being after medical interventions. The service encourages people to make healthier choices by being more mindful of how they take care of their body’s needs. Eating regular nutritional meals often improves mood and increases overall health. Below are three other areas where people are encouraged to make healthier choices to speed recovery.

#1. Physical Movement and Exercise

Staying physically active helps the mind and body heal. However, after undergoing medical procedures, people should consult their doctor about any exercise or other activity limitations. Seniors are especially prone to health issues if they fail to stay physically active after undergoing surgery or other treatments. According to Current Opinion in Anesthesiology, “Therapeutic exercise before and after surgery might augment the postoperative outcomes by improving functional status and reducing the complication and mortality rate.”

Some ways people can stay active include:

LifeSpring Home Nutrition ensures clients have the best meals to support regular physical activity.

#2. Staying Hydrated

Proper hydration is vital for people recovering from surgery or other medical treatments. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), “[M]ost women consume around 6-9 cups of fluids daily and 8-12 cups daily for men.” People get their daily fluids from food and drinks. The frozen meals provided by LifeSpring Home Nutrition provide people with additional essential fluids. A healthy diet combined with proper hydration often decreases symptoms related to anxiety, depression, or chronic stress.

#3. Eating Regular Nutritional Meals

Regular nutritional meals help the body fight off infection and grow stronger. A healthy diet is vital for individuals who have undergone surgery or other physically intensive procedures. According to Nutrients, “Adequate nutritional consumption is essential for addressing the surgical stress response and mitigating the loss of muscle mass, strength, and functionality. Especially in older patients, inadequate protein can lead to significant muscle atrophy, leading to a loss of independence and increased mortality risk.” Older adults have higher risks associated with surgeries or other procedures. Proper nutrition during recovery significantly reduces those risks.

LifeSpring Home Nutrition Recovery Boost

Recovery Boost is designed to ensure people in the community have access to nutritional meals, recovery resources, and information about managing their condition. An RD helps people better understand how dietary changes may positively impact their health.

Everyone has different needs and preferences. LifeSpring Home Nutrition supports each person by doing the following:

In addition to providing essential nutritional support to individuals recovering from medical treatment, LifeSpring Home Nutrition also supports people’s mental well-being. Every week, the same driver delivers meals. The contact creates a positive social bond and serves as a wellness check for vulnerable individuals recovering from medical procedures.

People recover from physical and mental health issues more effectively when they have a balanced diet and access to nourishing meals. LifeSpring Home Nutrition offers a variety of specialized meal options to fit the needs of individuals recovering from surgery, substance abuse, and other medical conditions.
